Let’s Knit and Let’s Get Crafting in a bid to celebrate Britain’s much-loved independent wool shops. “We’re very happy to be taking part,” said Carole Wareing co-owner of The Wool Boat. “Yarn crafting is really growing in popularity” On Saturday the 2nd of May we will have boated down from our winter base in Lancashire and be moored and open in Rode Heath, on the Trent and Mersey Canal near Alsager in Cheshire. For the day we will be making a feature of British produced yarns. We’ll have yarns spun from wool from British sheep, commercially produced by West Yorkshire spinners from Keighley and Woolly knits from Diggle, and yarns from a couple of independent spinners, Lazy Kate from back home in Lancashire and Kate Schofield, from Cheadle. We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new aboard The Wool Boat, and hope all local knitters and crocheter’s will come and get involved, with a outdoor knit and natter if the weather is nice.” The Wool Boat will be open at Rode heath for the 3 days of this bank holiday weekend, open from 10-5 daily.
