As you may be aware the Data Protection Act is changing in May and as an Association we are working to comply with it. The new Act is called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and it is to protect the personal data we hold on our members. The Association has a new Privacy Policy and is available for members to read in the members area of our website here Members Document Library.
One of the requirements is that we have your consent to use your data as laid out in the Policy. You do not have to give consent for use of your pictures or videos to be a member of the Association, and all new members will have a choice in whether to give it or not when they join and complete the ‘paperwork’, Self upload would be considered as consent.
The way we use your personal data is to actually run the Association. It is never shared outside of the steering committee. Pictures, personal names and boat/business names may be used in advertising or on our official Facebook pages to promote your business to the public.
When you join the RCTA there is a consent section at the bottom of your profile which requires you to answer YES or NO.
If you are an existing member there may already be some photos /videos on the website when you attended markets etc. If you wish these to be removed, please let us know and we will remove these as soon as possible.
Summary, Data Protection:
The club has a Data Privacy Policy which can be found at www.rcta.org.uk
Your data will be stored and used in accordance with this Policy.
The information you provided when you joined will be used solely for dealing with you as a member of Roving Canal Traders Association
The Association may arrange for photographs or videos to be taken at markets or official RCTA activities and published on our website or official Facebook pages to promote the Association and your business
If you do not consent to your images being used by the Association in this way, please contact us and we will ensure that we, as RCTA , do not use them.
Thank you,
